Now why can't I run a magneto withou a kickstarter? Model T Fords didn't have a kicker, sprint cars don't have a kicker, and neither did my magneto powered Shovelhead. Of course, the Shovelhead was cobbled together out of a 50 year span of spare parts, so it was more amazing that it actually worked, rather than how it worked. Funny thing about it, the racing mag would always reload it';s spring upon shut down, pull a pin and it usually fired right up.
